Curriculum Vitae

Youth and schooldays in the post-war period in Styria / Austria;
1956: degree: primary school teacher
Family phase: son 1965, daughter 1967, grandchildren (6,7,10,11,12,14) divorce 1979,
Employment as a teacher between 1961 and 1987 in different types of schools and functions in the Federal Republic of Germany and in Austria
Post-professional period of life:
1986: foundation of the senior citizens’ department –  since 1996 Generations’ Department – at the Federation of Austrian University Students of the Karl Franzens University of Graz
1988 – 2010 on going working at the students union of University of Graz on voluntary terms
1987: Start with European Ethnology  at the Karl Franzens University Graz
1991: foundation of GEFAS Styria (Society for the Promotion of Gerontology and Senior Citizens’ Studies at the University Graz) www.generations.at
1993: Master of Philosophy, Education and Learning in later Life
1999: PhD in History – : “Chances and possibilities of social-political participation of older women and men in Styrian senior citizens’ organizations between claim and reality”, Graz 1999

Implementation and cooperation in projects and initiatives  at local, regional, national and international level:

Organization of the series of lectures “Intergenerational learning”
1990: preventive osteoporosis gymnastics and training for course leaders
1990: exchange programme for senior students with Darmstadt/D, Prague/CZ, Strasbourg/F, Boston/USA and Toronto/CAN
1991: establishment of the University event “International Tea ”  – intergenerational and multicultural meetings
1993: Cooperation with the Ministry of  Social Security and Generations in the “Platform against violence in families”; main emphasis: older people and the solidarity between generations
1994 – partner in the EU project “Older people in public transportation”
1994 on going cooperation with URANIA Styria: main emphases of programmes: Health, experience and knowledge, discussion groups for women etc
1995 ongoing foundation of the “GEFAS theatre ensemble “Young and old”
1996: GEFAS goes Europe, EU project management: “Changing Track at Third Age”, a training project for and with older women with Glasgow/GB Perugia/I, Rüsselsheim/D.
1996: foundation of the platform “Women 50plus – region Styria ”
1996: annual festival of generations, at the Graz main square; main topics: tolerance, peace, voluntary work, etc.
1994 ongoing: Project “Housing for help”; administered by GEFAS Styria and the Generations’ Department of the Federation of University Students, Graz
1997: the GEFAS Styria  project “Housing for help” became an EU project (with Norway, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Czech Rep)
1998: launching of the project: “Storyline –  the classroom as meeting point for generations”
1998 ongoing: start of the multipliers training “Changing track – an educational programme for and with older women ” (resulted from the EU project “Changing Track at Third Age”
1998: Implementation of the project “Generations in motion” – in cooperation with ASKÖ Styria
1998: establishment of www.seniorweb.at and launching of internet courses for older people
1999 ongoing: participation in the “Citizens’ offices for young and old” – an initiative by the Austrian Ministry for Social Security and Generations
2000: partner in the EU project: “Equal opportunities for older women”   – www.sophia-net.org ”
2000 ongoing: launching of  “SiA – Sinn im Alter” –  a summer academy for the post-professional period
2001 – 2003 Life Long Learning Evaluator of Grundtvig projects
2001: start of the further education programme for women: “Herzhafte Frauen “– a follow-up initiative of the EU project “Changing Track at Third Age”
2001: national committee “The social-political significance of voluntary work”
2001 ongoing: Initiating Mondayakademie as an answer to installing fees for university studies for seniors
2002/2004 ongoing „Ripe Apples“ a health/social project for elderly women
2003/2004 „LISA – Learning in Senior Age“ a trans national European Project
2004: Planning high old age – a regional project in Styria
2004 – 2006: LENA – LISA II – Learning in Seniorage – Designing a Curriculum concerning various topics (Use of Gerontotechnology, Aging, Women, Health, e Learning – e Government – ICT; culture,  language, history and biography  etc; older migrants )
2005: Contact seminar for Learning in Senior age in Graz, Styria, Austria
2005: European dictionary for migrants and older Austrian women
2004 – 2005: “Employment, further education and antidiscrimination in old age” an EU funded national project; justice and social affairs
2005 – 2006: EU Project “Violence prevention for older women
2006: Elder Abuse Awareness Day
2005 – 2007: Prevention of violence for older women” a trans national EU funded project; DAPHNE – justice and social affairs
2006 – 2007: MOLI – Migrant Mothers learning about important issues
